Memorial Obituary

A former state representative from Lewiston, Daniel H. Ziemann 70, Canyon Country, Calif., who died at St. Joseph's Hospital Wednesday [1 Aug 1979) afternoon, was here visiting friends when he was seized by a heart attack.

Ziemann, a native of Southwick, was a physical therapist at Canyon Country.

He operated the Ziemann Bros. Store in Southwick and served as an Idaho State representative from Nez Perce County in 1940-41 before moving to Coeur d'Alene.

Ziemann worked for the Internal Revenue Service at Coeur d'Alene and at Boise before attending the University of Idaho and operating a drive-in with his brother Warner "Ike" Ziemann who died in 1971, at Moscow from 1947 to 1950. He had attended the University of Idaho previously and was a member of the Lambda Chi fraternity. He was a member of the Lewiston Elks Lodge and the California Physical Therapy Association. Before going into physical therapy work full time in 1974, he was a linen salesman. He graduated from the Bailey School of Physical Therapy at Los Angeles in 1960.

Ziemann was born at Southwick May 6, 1909, the son of Gustav and Wilda Ziemann.

He married the former Elizabeth Schmidt at Coeur d'Alene April 6, 1950.

In addition to his wife he is survived by four sons, Scott R. Ziemann and John R. Ziemann of Canyon Country. James E. Ziemann of Oxnard, Calif. and Van G. Ziemann of Moscow; three daughters, Janice Geyer of Slymar, Calif., Jerilynne Ziemann of Moscow, and Pamela Ziemann of Canyon Country; three brothers, George Ziemann of Hubbard, Ore., John Ziemann of Portland, and Robert Ziemann of Houston, Texas; a sister Jane Deuel of Ormond Beach, Fla., and one grandchild.

The funeral will be Saturday morning at 10 at Vassar-Rawls Chapel. The Rev. William A. Allen of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be at Normal Hill Cemetery. The family suggested contributions to the heart fund in care of Virginia Quinlan, 120 West 18th Ave. Lewiston.
