Graham was born March 28, 1922, in Alexandria, Louisiana and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Grace Home, surrounded by his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mathilda Praet Smith; parents, James Ferdinand Smith and Mary Elizabeth Verzwyvelt Smith; brothers Jerome, Earnest, Bernard and Wilburn Smith; sister, Essie Gueringer; and granddaughter, Karyn Smith.

Left to cherish his memory- 1 sister, Mildred Hoornstra of Clearwater, Florida; 3 sons, Ferd Smith (Kathy) of Kolin, Robert Smith of Boyce and Louis Smith, Jr. (Kim) of Deville; 3 daughters, Anita Brewer (Houston) of Center Point, Libby Matney (Jerry) of Alexandria and Kathy Holt (Bobby) of Rigolette; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

Graham was a member of the St. Francis & Anne Catholic Church, Kolin, Louisiana. He was employed by Central Lumber Company for over 25 years and worked for J. R. Baker Farms until he was 72 years of age. Always loving to work and being of Belgian descent, Graham left his family a legacy of honesty and rich work ethics. Passing down to his children the love of family by spending time with them was his greatest joy. He was a country boy who still, at age 91, had a great love of horses, gardening and animals; his skills were taught with pride to all. In the winter of his life, Graham put pen to paper and left a written account of family, friends and the life and times he had from Jackson Street down Twin Bridges Road (1930-1950), compiling 5 books on the subject. A storyteller extraordinaire, he touched everyone who met him, with his love and wit. At the end of his life, his greatest accomplishment was his children. His family will miss him deeply.

Pallbearers honored to serve are his grandchildren, Bridget Bellino, Lindsay Philpot, Lacey Matney, Emily Smith, Victor Bellino, Nathan Smith, Clint Smith and Buck Holt. Honorary pallbearers are grandchildren, Ashley Brown, Naddia Melder, Rosey Matney, Graham Holt and Noah Holt.

Special appreciation is given to Kim Brouillette, RN "Little Diamond", Lagniappe Home Health, Thompson Home Health, Dr. Ron Hayes, staff of Lexington House and the loving staff of Grace Home.

Memorials may be made in honor of Graham to St. Francis & Anne Catholic Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 3147, Pineville, LA 71361, 143 Booner Miller Rd., Kolin, Louisiana 71328.
