Earl A. Cox, age 75, a resident of the Smith Creek Community of Washington County, Virginia went home to be with the Lord, where he will suffer no more on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.



He was born in Washington County, Virginia a son of the late Carl Thurman Cox and Lillie Pearl Tillison Cox. He was a lifelong resident of the area and an avid woodworker, fisherman and hunter. He was a member of the Army National Guard and also a member of Swartz Chapel Church. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one son, Jackie Webb and one son-in-law, Harvey Moneyhun.



He is survived by the love of his life for 25 years, Betty Sue Cox of the home; one son, Larry Webb and wife, Lynn of Bristol, Virginia; two daughters, Debbie Moneyhun and husband, Junior Watson of Kingsport, Tennessee and Teresa Pendry and husband, Gary of Abingdon, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Wendy, Kim and Lori Moneyhun and Ricky, Justin, Ashley and Emily Webb; one daughter-in-law, Felisha Webb of Bristol, Virginia; one sister, Glenda Andis and husband, G.H. of Bristol, Virginia; mother-in-law, Dixie Boger of Lebanon, Virginia; two aunts; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Kevin Brewer, Jason Brewer, Junior Greer, Mike" Hippy" Hale; Larry Mumpower, Bill Marshall, Willie Marshall, Tonya Anderson, Mark Counts and Gracie Counts who he was a papaw too.



The funeral service for Earl Cox will be conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, November 22, 2009 in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry "P.T." Glover, Rev. Kenneth Widner and Brother Bob Spears officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Woodrow "Rooster" Brewer, Billy Boger, Jr., Jackie Boger, Carlyle Hobbs, Gary Andis, Mark Andis, Tony Andis and Steve Osborne. Honorary pallbearers will be Albert Cornett, Dub Bott, Doc Gill, Mike Gill, Billy Boger, Ray Allison, Joe Andis, Bobby Andis, Bob McCroskey, Bill South, Lonnie Fuller, Tommy Fuller, Kenneth Gill, Roy Brewer and Johnny Johnson.
