Dearly loved Bob Swift left this earth on May 14th, 2013. He loved life and if he had to depart... he went the way he wanted to go... surrounded by loved ones.

Bob's story is one of new beginnings and progressive thinking. He had a lot of adversity to overcome early in life but seemed to take it as a model to live by. "I will overcome". This motto was shared and embraced by the many that he encountered. From the work he did in the prison system, to the work he did in hospitals... always seeing the other side of the story... giving everyone a chance a believing that every man or woman could make a change if change was needed. Bob was an avid football fan, his favorite team was the 49's even through his illness he was thrilled to see them go to the Superbowl in February.

He briefly studied business law at Loyola University; He worked as an engineer at GM, Ford, Boeing, and McDonnell Douglas. Through his work on the fuselage and O rings (aka Y ring) on the Saturn V project he was instrumental in getting man to the moon. He was very active in the defense aeronautical industry. He served our county in the United States Air Force. Somehow in life's path he found his calling as a Registered Nurse. While it is a job to many to Bob it was a calling and an opportunity to serve others. He instilled in his family the need to help others is greater than the need to make money. He lived this principal to his last days. He enjoyed his work supporting families and staff at the Family Resource Center in Olivehurst.

There is no doubt that the world is a much better place because of the life he lived. He will be missed greatly by all of us who were part of his life and all of us that he touched. Our motto "Go team Swift!"

He will be greatly missed by his wife Caryn, his children, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his children, Robert Lawrence Swift of Las Vegas, Nevada, John Gerald Swift of Las Vegas, Nevada, Stephanie Eckes (Swift) of Sacramento, CA, Margeurite Irene Gutierrez (Swift) of Manteca, CA, Jack Richard Swift of Apache Junction, AZ and Kim Dee Swift of Seattle, WA; and Bob's brother Richard Swift of Detroit Michigan. Bob also leaves behind many grandchildren: Shenelle Nicole LaBoch and her husband Thomas Joseph LaBoch, Sabreena Jeante Gutierrez, Dionicio William Gutierrez, Joshua Robert Swift and his companion Elizabeth Mayorga, David Jonathan Swift, Ashleigh Anne Koleda, Alexandria Horn, Isaac Richard Swift Horn and Amy Grace Swift. Sophia Marie Rose LaBoch (Zoey and Mila Rose Swift are Bob's great granddaughters. Waiting for Bob in heaven are his parents, Jack Richard Swift and Marguerite Irene Swift and his great grandson Thomas Joseph LaBoch II.

Bob's short illness did not define who he was as a person. He kept fighting till the end.

Services for Bob Swift will be held at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, located at 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA on Monday June 17, 2013 at 1:30 p.m.
