Mary Jane Mathis, 91 of Lebanon, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the hospital in Madill. She was born on November 28, 1921 in McAlester, Oklahoma to the late Carey Edward Elliott and Sarah Lona Roberson. Mary Jane was raised in McAlester and Cox City area and graduated from Cox City High School. She married Marion "Bink" Mathis on August 9, 1943 in St Charles, South Carolina and he preceded her in death. Mary Jane attended Hills Business College and later moved to Connecticut and then to South Carolina. In 1979 she moved to Lebanon where she lived the rest of her life. She was a member of the Lebanon Baptist Church and enjoyed sewing, quilting, canning, flowers and making clothes for her grandchildren.

She is survived by:

Gene Mathis, Lebanon, OK

James Thompson and wife Rachel, Ardmore, OK

Great Grandchildren: Taylor and Gabi Burke, Jared, Conner and Mackenzie Mathis, Uriah and Aiden Thompson, Lauren and Anne Marie Sherrod and Eathan Walker

Brother: Lloyd Elliott and wife Carol, Oklahoma City, OK

Sister-in-law: Glenda Elliott, Mustang, OK

Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, and granddaughter Melinda (Mathis) Sherrod-Walker.
