George A. Calloway was born on December 3, 1934, in Midway, Alabama to the union of Charlie and Daisy Calloway. He was the third son born to this union, and left the state of Alabama in the mid 1950's.

His parents Charlie and Daisy Calloway, one brother, Major Calloway, a daughter, Vanessa D. Haliburton, and a grandson, Lester Haliburton all preceded him in death.

George came to Kansas City, Missouri, where he met his life partner, Georgia Lee Haliburton, and had been in Kansas City for the past fifty years.

He was a very giving person, and devoted father. He was a caring person, with a heart that loved the lord and he knew no strangers.

George worked his early years for Gallo Produce for thirty until his health declined, forcing him to take an early retirement 1998.

In his later years, he began his ministry for Christ as a Deacon at True Gospel Church of God and Christ in 2003, and was an active member there until his death.

George A. Calloway leaves to cherish his memories, his life partner, Georgia L. Haliburton; eight loving daughters and one son: Denise E. Dixon (James Farrell Jr.), Marsha L. Haliburton-Cody (Daniel), Arlene R. Haliburton, and Christine M. Patton (Gregory), Earlene M. Haliburton, Donna S. Sykes, Karen Y. Haliburton, John W. Haliburton Jr. (Kelly), and Vicki A. Haliburton all of Kansas City, Missouri; two brothers, Charlie R. Calloway Jr., Union Springs, Alabama and James O. Calloway (Elva Mae) of Midway, Alabama; thirty-six grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; a loving pet, "Mr. Kitty"; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
