Ella Spurling Crouch, 96, formerly of Campbellsville, died Wednesday, September 28, 1988, at the Summerfield Manor Nursing Home in Louisville after an extended illness. She was a retired tailor, the oldest member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and a member of the Campbellsville Business & Professional Women's Club and the League of Women Voters. She was also a member of the Campbellsville Chamber of Commerce and the American Legion Auxiliary, Post #82, in Campbellsville. She is survived by 1 son and 2 daughters, James Kenneth Crouch, Watertown, NY, Maxine McEwen, Louisville, and Sybil C. Huhn, Pennsylvania; 1 sister, Mary E. Ogden, Pewee Valley; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; several other relatives and a host of friends. The funeral was at 11 a.m. Friday, September 30, at the Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church Cemetery at Spurlington. Father John Caldwell rendered the funeral Mass. Pallbearers were Corky Scott, Dr. Robert Januski, Billy Mitchell, Lynwood Mitchell, Ted Winn and Chester Wise.
