Hudson R. Powell, 87, of Herman Myers Road, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at Fahrney Keedy Home in Boonsboro. Born March 29, 1912, in Franklin, Va., he was the son of the late Samuel J. and Mary B. Raiford Powell.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Myrtis J. Powell.
He was employed by Wright Construction Company. He was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church in Franklin.
He is survived by two sons, Robert R. Powell of Clear Spring and Carroll E. Powell of Hagerstown; three sisters, Pauline Bulls and Emma Lee Branch, both of Franklin, and Gladys Branch of Newport News, Va.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Hilda Mae Storey, and four brothers, Raleigh Powell, Eardley Powell, Fletcher Powell and Paul Powell.
Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Ernest W. Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
