Leonard D. Thompson, 76, of White Oak and formerly of Abilene, died Saturday at his home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Elmwood West United Methodist Church with Dr. David Hamblin officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South.

Mr. Thompson was born in Lamesa and married Wanda Lynn Sanders in 1942 in Throckmorton. He served with the 8th Army Air Corps during World War II and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1948. He became a certified public accountant in 1955 and was self-employed with the firm of Leslie, Thompson, Lawrence & Holly until retiring in 1988. He was treasurer of the city board of missions for 13 years and moved to White Oak in 1994. He was a member of both Fair Park and Elmwood West United Methodist churches in Abilene until moving to White Oak. He then became a member of White Oak United Methodist Church and also was a member of the senior citizens group.

Survivors include his wife, of White Oak; three sons, Don Thompson of Rowlett, the Rev. Roger Thompson of Birmingham, Ala., and Rob Thompson of White Oak; one brother, Earnest Thompson of California; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
