Maxine E. Switzer, age 94, of North Main Street, Mt. Vernon, died Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at the Country Court Care Center. She was born on February 28, 1909 in Boston, MA, daughter to the late Howard and Mary (Crenshaw) Pershing. Maxine graduated from the Chicago Kindergarten College and went on to be an educator serving the Cygnet Ohio School District as a 1st. and 2nd. Grade Teacher from which she retired . She was also proud to be the niece of the WWI General John "BlackJack" Pershing.

She is survived by her sister, Ruth Elliott of Indiana, numerous Nieces and Nephews, caregivers Rose Heiks, Judy DeBolt, Norma Simpson, Vickie Marra and special friends, William and Peggy Stroud. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Sidney C. Switzer, and two brothers, Bob and Richard Pershing.
