Geraldine Mae "Gerry" Johnson Trahey Hanley, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully late Monday evening, June 3, 2013, during her 83rd year. Service: Her family will host a reception from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. A Memorial Eucharist will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Christopher Episcopal Church, 3550 SW Loop 820. Following committal prayers, she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Dan, in Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: Family and friends will gather from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the Great Room at Robertson Mueller Harper. Born in Austin on Aug. 30, 1929, Gerry was the daughter of Dewey and Ella Molberg Johnson. She was married to Dan Trahey Jr., who died in 2003, a marriage of 54 years. In 2005, Gerry married Fiske Hanley. She enjoyed traveling, dancing and entertaining with both her husbands. Gerry and Dan were founding members of St. Christopher Episcopal Church where she served on the vestry multiple times, as well as the Women's Guild. Even though homemaking and raising 4 children was a full-time job, she was also a teacher and director of the pre-school at the church for over 30 years. She was a member of the Woman's Club of Fort Worth and was active on her neighborhood Watch Patrol. She enjoyed exercising and walking, and she was an avid reader, especially of True Crime stories. She loved life and she taught her children to love and cherish life-everyday. Gerry was so proud of her family and of her Swedish heritage, and she instilled in all of her children and grandchildren the importance of family. Her family wishes to express their appreciation to Colonial Gardens and Odyssey Hospice for the compassionate care their mother received. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Trahey Jr.; son, Dan Trahey III; sisters, Genevieve and Marjorie; and brother, Wilton. Survivors: Gerry is survived by her husband, Fiske Hanley; son, Bruce Trahey and Sharon of Azle; Cheryl Trahey Nantz and Michael, and Renee' Trahey Hicks, all of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Lyndsay Nantz Hoover and Justin, Stacey Nantz Purvis and Jeremy, Alex Nantz and Caitlin, Matthew Hicks, Braden Trahey, Cassidy Trahey, Clint Wyatt, Ryan Wyatt and Heather, and Colton Wyatt; great-grandchildren, Georgia Grace, Holt, Grayson, Ainsley, Emma and Brazos; brother, Stanley Johnson and Ada of Austin; and nieces and nephews and their families.
