Civil War Veteran. Enlisted August 26, 1864, and mustered in the same day as a private in company H of the 8th Vermont Infantry. Wounded at Cedar Creek on October 19, 1864, and mustered out on June 1, 1865.
On January 20, 1868, George married Ellen E Skinner in Charleston, Orleans, Vermont. In 1870, the couple lived with the Lyman Skinner household in Charleston, Orleans County, Vermont.
In 1880, George worked on the farm of his uncle Harvey Skinner in Chester.
