Royal G. Lamoureux was born in Chatsworth, Iowa to Joseph N. and Edna (Dalgliesh) Lamoureux.

Growing up in Iowa, he attended schools in the Sioux City area. He began his career with the railroad in Sioux City, and eventually rose to Midwest Regional Supervisor of Railroad Inspection and served in that capacity until his retirement. He was a member of Golden K Kiwanis. He married Betty Richardson and they made their home first in Sioux City, then Minneapolis. They retired in Loveland to be near their children. They have enjoyed and celebrated sixty-six years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lamoureux, his three daughters: Sherry Ankrum and husband, Ed, Kathy Wurth and husband, Jim, and Julie Englert Ostermiller. He is also survived by grandchildren: Nicole White and Derek Johnston, both of Longmont, Jill Kirar of Charleston, SC, Brian Wurth of Fort Collins, Kelsey Reeves of Loveland, Jim Englert of Loveland, and Kait Neet of Golden. He is also survived by his sisters: Marguerite Vondrak of Souix City, IA , Janice Vondrak of Petaluma, CA, Luene Petersen of LeMars, IA, and Beverly Bytner of Columbia, SC and his brothers Pat Lamoureux of Denver and Wayne Lamoureux of Sioux City, IA. He has fifteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard Lamoureux, and a granddaughter, Angela Wurth Fooshee.

His kindness and optimism for life shown through his genuine warm smile. He made many good friends through golf and dance, and enjoyed working outdoors whether it was gardening or fixing anything that needed repair. He was driven by his commitment to his wife and family. His integrity and incredible optimism were an example to his children, grandchildren and everyone he came into contact with. His calm and accepting attitude, patience, gentleness, joyfulness, perseverance and zest for life were admired by all of us. He always took the high road- and usually with the "pedal to the metal".
