Richard, 83, passed at home with his wife and loving son at his side on June 1, 2013.

Richard was born on September 6, 1929 in Rockville Township, Minnesota to Nicholas and Gertrude Schneider. Richard had 10 sisters and brothers, Evern, Alcuin, Delphene Ness, Jeanette Schepers, Alice, Alvin, Dorothy Porwoll, Ron, Lucy Fuchs and Larane Neters, all from Minnesota. Richard was the only one to come out west. Richard attended school next to the lake where he lived. He told of how he would ice skate to school and use the horse and sled to get around in the winter. He also loved to ice fish in the same lake. Later, he loved any kind of fishing with his family, car racing, bowling and desert golf. Richard's schooling was a lot of learning as you go, he had to work on their family's farm and also helped his uncles and friends on their farms.

Richard was called to duty for the Army in 1952, where he spent the next two years in Germany. After the service he went into construction for many years. Then he thought about retiring, but that only lasted a short time. He went to work at the Toppenish Eagles as the manager for 12 years, and that was still not enough. He then helped his wife manage two hotels. Finally, he retired and went to Arizona with his wife of almost 40 years to get out of the cold, and co-hosted the RV park. He was staying in until his health got the best of him.

Richard is survived by his wife Joan, two daughters Jean O'conner of Kent, Ruth Schoonhoven and husband Bob, of Indio, CA, and son Rick Schneider and wife Brenda of Zillah, three stepchildren, Elizabeth Lowe of Yakima, Elaine Razey and Phil of Zillah and Elliot Baker of Yakima, six grandchildren and six step grandchildren, lots of nephews and nieces. Richard was preceded in death by his father and mother and one sister.
