GALVESTON — Josephine Marie Anderson Merida, 53, passed away Thursday, March 19, 1998, at her residence in FranksvLUe, Alabama.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1420 31st Street, Galveston, Wednesday. March 25, 1998, with Father Paul Banet celebrant.

Burial will follow at Mainland Memorial Cemetery, Hitchcock.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 1998, at Games Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston, with a vigil for the deceased and a Rosary to be held at 7 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Mrs. Merida was born December 31,1944, in Galveston to Samuel and Mary Clay Anderson. She graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1963. She was employed
as nurses assistant for St. Mary's Hospital of Galveston for 13 years moving on to the position of Unit Clerk for 10 years at The University of Texas Medical Branch before
she moved away. She was a dedicated homemaker and had a special love for her family and home, dedicating her life to the care of her family and friends.

Preceded in death by her father.

Mrs. Merida is survived
by her husband, Ossie Lee Merida of Franksville, Alabama;
daughter, Barbara Florence of Los Angeles; son, John Anderson of Houston; mother, Mary B. Anderson of Galveston; sisters, Theresa James and husband, Pauley of Houston, Phoebe Fields, Betty Jackson and Gloria Anderson all of Galveston, Agnes Barefield and husband, Marcus and Cecilia Jones all of Texas City; brothers, Theodore Anderson and wife, Laura of Oceanside, California and George Anderson and wife, Rose of Galveston; grandson, Chasmond Anderson of Houston; brother-inlaw, Freddie Merida and wife, Nora of La Marque; close cousins, Arthurine SassLon and husband, Nathan of Franksville, Alabama, and Joseph Mitchell and wife, Jeanette of Galveston; Rosalie Merida and family, Ernestine Gaines and family, Snowden and family, Mike Grimes and family, Dianne Callis and family McArthur Whitley and
Kevin, and Porter Bowman and family; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and
friends.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Fields, Timothy Fields, Sam
Green, Ivan Geters, Sean Christian and Richard Edwards.
