MONTEREY, Calif. - Russell W. Flaminio, 56, passed away Monday, April 1, 2013, in his motor-home.

Russ was born at the Naval Hospital in Balboa, Calif., on July 17, 1956, and grew up as the son of a naval officer in cities including San Diego, Minneapolis, Madison, Wis., Pearl Harbor, San Ramon, Calif., and Costa Mesa, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert "Jumbo" and Doris Flaminio of Kingsford, and Les and Sue Kallenbach of Amberg, Wis. He was also preceded in death by his parents, William "Flip" Flaminio (U.S. Navy, retired) and Elvie Kallenbach.

Russ resided and raised his family near Salt Lake City for the past 35 years. While in Utah, Russ mastered the culinary arts and cooked at many of the fine ski resorts surrounding the Salt Lake City area. He also enjoyed photography and loved taking trips to the lake with his family and his WaveRunner.

Russ was a good friend to many, but his greatest love was his family, whom he supported, encouraged and always loved unconditionally.

Russ is survived by his children, Nicole (Jeremiah) Weber, Anthony (Ashley) Flaminio and Vanessa Flaminio; his grandchildren, Samantha, Nicholas, Andrew and Hannah.

He also leaves behind a brother, Michael "Mick" and Susie Flaminio of Kingsford; and a sister, Linda Flaminio of California.

There will be a small burial ceremony at the Niagara Cemetery on Saturday, June 8, at 11 a.m. for those friends and family members who wish to attend.

We ask that you simply hold onto your fond memories of Russ and keep him forever in your hearts and prayers.
