Theodore was the son of John and Elizabeth Smith. He married Roxa Fleming on 11 NOV 1857 in Algona, Humboldt County, Iowa. They were the parents of Wallis, Orrin, Etta (1863-1950, married Sumner Vought, buried in CA), Mark, and Eber.

Aug 15, 1888 - Algona Upper Des Moines - The Emmetsburg Reporter notes in old Kossuth settler's visit as follows: "Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Jones of Kossuth county and Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Smith of Humboldt county recently made a brief Visit to Charles McCormick. These parties were pioneers in the Upper Des Moines settlement, and were acquainted with most of the first settlers of Palo Alto county. We believe that both of them were with the soldiers who were located at Estherville during the Indian trouble."

March 29, 1895 - Kossuth County Advance - A.J. Jones and wife, and Theodore Smith and wife, of Livermore, were the guests of Chas. McCormick and family of Emmetsburg last week. Mr. Smith is one of the early settlers of Humboldt county, having been there since 1856. He expects to remove to Missouri in a short time.

August 29, 1902 - Algona Courier - Jack Jones and family of Riverdale were greatly surprised the other day by receiving visits simultaneously from Charley McCormick of Emmetsburg and Theodore Smith of the Ozarks country, Missouri. Mr McCormick and Mr. Jones are related by marriage, and Mr. Smith is Mr. Jones' brother-in-law. He was an old timer here and yet owns a tract of land near Livermore, but lives in Missouri on account of his health. The meeting was a joyful reunion of old friends.

Sept 7, 1906 - Algona Courier - Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Smith of Missouri, relatives of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Jones, are in this country again for a family reunion. They are accompanied by a sister of Mrs. Smith from Missouri, and are met here by one from Nebraska, and are visiting with another sister, Mrs. Vogt of Livermore.

Feb 20 1908 - Algona Advance - Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Jones yesterday attended the funeral of Mrs. Jones' brother, Theodore Smith, at Livermore. Mr. Smith before the war with his brother O.J. batched it on the premises now known as the old O'Rourke place. For a long period of years he lived near where Livermore is now. For the past fifteen years he lived in Webster county Missouri, where he died.

Feb 21, 1908 - Algona Courier - Theodore Smith, brother of Mrs. A.J. Jones, who lived for several years in Missouri, died last week and the remains were interred at Livermore Wednesday. Mr. Smith was an old resident of this county and was well known to all the residents of the south part.
