Benjamin Weldon Johnson, 93, died Thursday, June 14, 2007. Prior to moving to Collegeville in 2004, he had been a life-long resident of Creamery. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Grace (Feist) Johnson, in 1978.

Born in Creamery, he was a son of the late Markley and Stella (Undercoffler) Johnson and a graduate of Collegeville-Trappe High School.

Mr. Johnson was a letter carrier for the Norristown Post Office for 34 years, retiring in 1972.

He was a life member of Lower Skippack Mennonite Church, where he was a former Sunday School teacher and deacon.

He was an avid gardener and woodworker and was very tal­ented in working with his hands.

He was survived by three daughters: Anita Wetzel, and her husband George of Franconia; Joan Bachman, and her husband Frank and Joyce Blattner, and her husband John, all of Collegeville; a daughter-in-law, Heather Johnson of Lansdale; a sister, Doris Krause of Collegeville; 13 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Rev. Joseph Johnson in 1995, and three siblings.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Lower Skippack Mennonite Church. Interment was in the adjoining church cemetery.
