ADAMS- Myrtle J. Rendell 77, formerly of Spring Street, passed away Sunday afternoon in the Country Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Centre in Carthage, where she had been a resident for the past five years.

She was born March 3, 1936 at Three Mile Bay, one of ten siblings, a daughter of Milford and Amy Calhoun Goodfriend. Myrtle attended school in Three mile Bay and worked, with her brothers and sisters, on the family farm. In 1952 she won a Dairyland Festival Citation Award from the Watertown Chamber of Commerce for a prize in the Inter-County milking contest.

Myrtle married Robert Rendell on November 17, 1956 and they lived most of their married life in Adams. She worked as a cashier at Rod's Big M market in Adams until her retirement in the 1980's. Her husband Robert died in December in 1989.

Survivors include her 2 sons and their wives, Gerald and Amy Rendell of Adams, Terry and Barb Rendell of Adams Center; a half-son, Gary Rendell of Michigan; 2 sisters, Doris Briggs of Watertown, and Helena Hacker of Florida; a brother, Glenn Goodfriend of Sackets Harbor; 2 grandchildren, Robert and Jordan, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Kenneth Goodfriend and Francis Goodfriend; and 4 sisters, Anna Aubertine, Betty Aubertine, Mable Parks and June Bourcy.

Myrtle's favorite pastime was playing pitch with friends, she also enjoyed playing the Lottery, Bingo and doing crossword puzzles.

She was an auxiliary member of Don Rounds American Legion Post #586 and the South Jefferson Memorial VFW Post #5344.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in Rural Cemetery in Adams. Arrangements are with the Carpenter-Stoodley funeral home, Belleville.

Contributions may be made to the South Jefferson Rescue Squad, 38 Main St., Adams, NY 13605; The American Legion Post # 586 Auxiliary, Adams, NY 13605; or the Multiple Sclerosis Assoc., in memory of Myrtle Rendell, 1650 South Ave., Suite #100, Rochester, NY 14620.
