Mr. Philip Edward Blaylock, age 66, a resident of Goodson Street, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 in the Veterans Administration Hospital at Mountain Home, Tennessee.

Mr. Blaylock was born on November 19, 1941 in Washington County, Virginia a son of the late William Edward Blaylock and Leona Virginia Lunsford Blaylock. He was a lifelong resident of the area and member of Shiloh Freewill Baptist Church. He was veteran having served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his two daughters, Karla Montgomery and husband, Darryl of Bristol, Tennessee; Angie Widener and husband, Rick of Abingdon, Virginia; two sons, Scott Blaylock of Abingdon, Virginia; Brad Blaylock and wife, Allison of Bristol, Virginia; ten grandchildren, Kayla, Samantha, Ethan, Jacob, Katie, Jarrod, Ashton, Brandon, Tyler and Karlie; one sister, Arlene Brooks and husband, Randall of Bristol, Virginia; and one brother, Gregory Blaylock of Atlanta, Georgia.

The family of Mr. Blaylock would like to thank the staff and participants at the Douglass Center, Joe Clark and the staff at the V.A. Medical Center Nursing Home for the love and care shown to our loved one. Also thanks to Denice Franklin and those that cared for him at Bristol Nursing Home.

Services for Mr. Philip Blaylock will be conducted at 11 A.M. on Friday, June 27, 2008 at the Mountain View Cemetery Mausoleum in Bristol, Virginia with the Rev. Walter Statzer officiating. Full Military Honors will be accorded by the Highlands Fellowship Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Jeff Cox, Bobby Arnold, Earl Inman, Howard Widener, Jacob Widener, and Ashton Blaylock.
