MORRISTOWN - Ruth Knox George, 90, died Sunday.

She is survived in Greene County by a daughter-in-law: Norma George of Greeneville, and three granddaughters and their husbands: Elizabeth and Scott Crews and Anne and Roger Self, all of Greeneville, and Beth and Rod Amos of Mosheim.

The daughter of a Presbyterian minister and his wife, she was born Oct. 13, 1916, in Larnad, Kan.

Mrs. George was active in Soma Sala Circle and the Child Welfare Circle for a number of years.

While she was a Presbyterian, she was involved in Presbyterian Women of the Church and was a Sunday school and Bible school teacher. The family joined First Baptist Church in 1969, where she continued to teach Sunday school.

Mrs. George was a volunteer tutor at Lincoln Elementary, helping children learn to read.

She was the widow of William Howard George, her husband of 59 years.

Survivors, in addition to those listed above, include her daughters and a son-in-law: Harriet George Hutchinson of Louisville (Tenn.), and Donna (George) and George Lovelace of Morristown; other grandchildren and their spouses: Burch and Stacie Hutchinson of Louisville (Tenn.), Will and Katie Hutchinson of Knoxville, and Allan and Taunya Lovelace of Cleveland; her great-grandchildren: Eden Hutchinson, Luke Hutchinson, Eve Hutchinson, William Crews, Sabrina Lovelace, Ryan Lovelace, Nathaniel Lovelace, Ethan Self, Kent Amos, Samantha Amos, Drew Amos, and Katie Amos; and one sister: Helen Knox of Pittsburgh, Pa.

She was preceded in death by a son; Thomas Howard George; and a sister: Mary Knox Moore.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 Tuesday morning at Mayes Mortuary in Morristown.

The funeral service will follow visitation at 11 o'clock in the mortuary chapel. The Rev. Danny George and the Rev. Allan Lovelace will officiate.

Burial will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Magnolia Cemetery in Maryville.
