Mary Jane Fredricksen passed away on June 3, 2013. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Sprang Dewey of Key Largo, FL, her niece Kathy Burkholder Rothstein and five grandchildren, Frederick Dewey, MD of Stanford, CA, Diane Maender living in Vienna, Austria, Patricia Leigh Dewey, Austin, TX, Geoffrey and Steven McKibben from NY and three great grandchildren Colton Maender, Nathaniel Dewey and Tyler James Maender.
Mary Jane Fredricksen, born Mary Jane Burkholder, of Robert and Frances Ochs Burkholder in Allentown, PA in 1926, graduated from Allentown High School in 1944, graduated from Cornell University in 1948 with an AB in Psychology and in 1950 with a Masters in Psychology, from Lehigh University. She married Edward Daniel Sprang in 1950, lived briefly in Fort Wayne, Indiana before moving to Camp Hill, Pennsylvania where she lived the rest of her life. She and Ned were married and lived happily until his death in 1981. Her daughters Diane Sprang McKibben, 1952-1999 and Deborah Sprang Dewey-1955 lived in Pennsylvania until their marriages.
Mary Jane married Cleve J. Fredricksen in 1990.
Mary Jane was the Sweetheart of Sigma Ki in 1948, organist for Allentown Evangelical Church, and President of Kappa Kappa Gamma at Cornell University.
She has been a member of the West Shore Country Club and Trinity Lutheran Church of Camp Hill for 50 years.
In additional to her work at the Junior League of Harrisburg and Bargain Box she was instrumental with her late husband Cleve Fredricksen in the building of the Fredricksen Outpatient Center, the Fredricksen Library and has generously supported the Homeland Center through the purchase of a transportation bus and computer work station for the residents. The annual Cleve and Mary Jane Fredricksen Golf Tournament has raised substantial funds for Pinnacle since 1992.
Mary Jane will be interred at Rolling Green Cemetery after a private family service. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Homeland Center, 1901 N. 5th Street, Harrisburg, Pa 17102, for the care of their residents.
