Burnice ("Burnie") L. Wall, 99 of Midway, died Wednesday February 20.
Born in Casey County, he was the son of the late John E. and Bessie Moore Wall. Burnie, a member of Midway Christian Church, had been active with the Disciples of Christ Church for over 80 years. He had served as a church elder, as chair of church boards, was a former Sunday school superintendent, taught Sunday school for over 50 years, and sang in church choirs. A 1942 graduate of Berea College where he earned a degree in Agriculture, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed as a teacher in Casey County , Richmond, Stamping Ground, and served as Principal at Stamping Ground Elementary School. He was a charter member of the Stamping Ground Ruritan Club, member of the Scott Co. American Legion, the Scott Co, Farm Bureau and the Scott County Teachers Association. From 1957 until 1976, he was employed by IBM in their Education and Training Division and retired as Manager of Employee Development.
Survivors include a daughter, Shela Wall Diamaond and her husband , Charles Donald of Goshen; a daughter-in-law, Audrey Wall of Midway; three granddaughters, Heather Diamond (Ted) Stirgwolt of Fredericksburg, VA., Ashley (Sean) DelFavero of Atlanta, GA., Amanda (Matt) Walker of Frankfort; four great grand-children , Callie DelFavero, Sam Walker, Ollie Walker, and Nate Walker.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Inez Ashley Wall, the mother of his children; by his second wife of 57 years, Mayme Mitchell Wall; by his son, Spencer Ashley Wall; and his sister, Inogene Wall Wesley.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25 at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home in Versailles. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 26 at Midway Christian Church with Rev. Heather McColl officiating. Burial will follow at the Midway Cemetery. Midway Christian Church Deacons and Elders will serve as pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers. Memorials are suggested to Midway Christian Church. P.O.
