CENTRAL CITY — Jay H. Burbach, 56, of Central City died on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at his home.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City with Trent Wagner officiating.

Mr. Burbach was born on May 17, 1957, in Norfolk to Leonard W. and Theresa A. (Conley) Burbach.

Survivors of the immediate family include his mother, of Central City; two brothers, Leonard Conley of Pisgah, Iowa, and Rich Burbach of Central City; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Nancy and Mel Schaecher of Battle Creek and Jodi Christensen of Waterloo.

Also surviving are four nieces and nephews and 10 great-nieces and great-nephews.

He grew up in Norfolk, Dodge and Central City. Jay received his GED during his time in the United States Army. After he was honorably discharged from the military, he went to Schuyler and worked at the packing plant for 10 years. In 1989, he came to the Central City area, working at the Independent Club for nearly 15 years. He worked for a Whitewater hog confinement near St. Edward at the time of his death.

Jay was a member of the Eagles Club in Central City. He enjoyed horse racing, especially the Kentucky Derby.

He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Kenneth Burbach; one niece, Lori Schaecher; and one nephew, Larry Schaecher.
