RAYMOND P. GREEN DIES; EX-AMATEUR BALL STAR

Raymond Porter Green, 36, of 141 Benham Avenue, formerly a leading amateur baseball player in the Bridgeport area, died today in St. Vincent's Hospital of pneumonia.

Services will take place Monday at 2:00PM in the Frank Polke and Son funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.

Mr. Green, an employee of the Bridgeport Hydraulic Company, served five years in the armed forces during World War II. Three of these years were spent in combat in Africa, Italy, France and Germany.

As an athlete, he performed on baseball teams of the Automotive Twins, Western-Jacksons, White Eagles and Monroe.

He is survived by his wife, Claire McCormick Green; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Green, and a brother, Edwin Green, all of Bridgeport.
