In a history of Marysvale, there is told a story of Kate Lee, the young Cherokee Indian maiden, who was left by some Indians. Charles Philip Dutson took her in and raised her, and when his own wife died, he married her. To this union was born one son, Charles Dutson, on January 13, 1872. He is thought to be the first child born at Bullion City. Charles Dutson Sr. was killed shortly afterwards while coming down the canyon on a load of poles and was buried in the canyon. After Charles Sr. died, Catherine married John Lee and they had three children, Jefferson James, Albert T., and John Henry "Jack" Lee.
Catherine died at the age of 64 at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City of Uterine Cancer.
Her death certificate lists her birthplace as Wyoming and the information was provided by her husband John Lee.
