Robert was born December 29, 1925, in Milwaukee, son of the late Edward and Elizabeth Hennig.
He graduated on January 13, 1947 from Boys' Trade and Technical High School, Milwaukee.
He served in the Marines during World War II from 1942 through 1945.
On April 10, 1948, Robert married the former Rudella Stam at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Milwaukee.
He joined the Milwaukee Fire Department in 1950 and served for 25 years.
He was a faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Manitowoc.
His hobbies included woodworking, fishing and hunting (his favorite-duck hunting).
Survivors include his wife, Rudella Hennig, Manitowoc; three daughters: Barbara (Rick) Kettner, Milwaukee; Mary (Kirk) Lundgren, Cedarburg; Laura (Chuck) Lundgren, Pickerel; two sons: Mike (Laurie) Hennig; Mequon; Tom (Barb) Lepke Hennig, Golden Valley, MN;
ten grandchildren: Lucien Alvarado, Corey Lundgren, Curtis Hennig, Laurent Alvarado, Eric Lundgren, Devon Hennig, LeAnn Jackson, Garrett Hennig, Stefan Lundgren, Catherine Lundgren;
two great grandchildren: Brenna Lundgren and Ilah Lundgren; other relatives and friends also survive.
Robert was also preceded in death by two sons: James and Steven Hennig; two brothers: Richard and Edward Hennig. Funeral services will be held at 1l:00 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2007, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. Rev. John Schuetze will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Relatives and friends may visit at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee. Memorials may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is assisting the Hennig family.
