Mrs. Catherine Anna Mae Jewell Castle, 83, formerly of 819 A St., Brunswick, more recently of Northampton Manor Nursing Home, Frederick, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
She was the wife of George Albert Castle, her husband of 64 years.
Born Aug. 23, 1918, in Reels Mill, Frederick,, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Bessie Tobery Jewell.
Mrs. Castle worked for a number of years in the Washington area for Hecht's Department stores as a store detective. Previously she had worked for Price Electric in Frederick.
She was a 50-year member of Brunswick Moose Lodge. She loved to dance and enjoyed reading.
Surviving in addition to her husband are one son, George Robert Castle and wife Zenny of Albany, Ga.; four grandchildren, George Robert Castle Jr. and wife Brenda of Apex N.C., Gregory Scott Castle and wife Brenda of Tulsa, Okla., Antoinette DeLeon of Albany, and Lorraine Parsons of Holiday, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Nathan Castle and Gregory Castle Jr.; seven brothers and sisters, Dorothy Bowers of St. Petersburg, Fla., Margaret Fox, Rosalie Ebbertz, Clarence Jewell Jr. and wife Ester, Charles Jewell, and Ruth Maurow, all of Frederick, and Lorraine Shores and husband Sonny of Buckeystown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Clark D. Carr officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
