"Nancy Zane Monroe, daughter of Maxwell and Jane Norton Zane, was born in Jefferson township, Cass Co., Mich., Nov. 17., 1829, and died at her home in Cassopolis, May 16, 1904.
She was married to Nathaniel Monroe, Nov. 22, 1849. To them were born three children, two dying while young, and the eldest, Mrs. J. N. Stockdale, surviving her.
Mr. Monroe died March 2, 1886. Since then she has resided in Cassopolis. She was an invalid for the last eight years and for six months preceding her death was entirely helpless, suffering from paralysis.
With her husband she became a member of the Christian church some forty years ago.
Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Jefferson, yesterday, conducted by Rev. Wm. Roe of Buchanan, and interment made in the Reames-Norton cemetery."
