Washington Governor. He served as Governor of Washington from 1897 until his death in office in 1901. He was succeeded in office by Washington State Lieutenant Governor Henry McBride. A member of the Washington State Legislature in 1895 he also held elective offices in Kansas, and worked as a school teacher, farmer and pharmacist.
