Audrey Price Baxter
Services for Audrey Price Baxter, 87, of Ruston will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2005 at the Burkhalter Chapel at Trinity United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Reverend Rolly Walker. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 27th, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.
Interment will be a private burial service in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.
Mrs. Baxter died May 26, 2005 at her residence.
Mrs. Baxter was born in Ruston, La. on May 24, 1918 to Thomas Scott Price and Lucinda Buie Price. Mr. Price, a Ruston attorney, moved from Jackson Parish community of Vernon and Mrs. Price came to Ruston from Fort Necessity, La. with her ten brothers and sisters. Miss Price married James Dudley Holland, Jr., who died in 1952, then remarried and joined in a fifty-year union with James Franklin Baxter of Ruston. Mrs. Baxter graduated from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Home Economics. She was a long time member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Ruston Garden Study Club, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and an avid bridge player.
She is survived by her husband, James Franklin Baxter; one son, James Dudley Holland, III and wife Elizabeth Funderburk Holland of Ruston; one daughter, Gayle Holland Taylor of Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren; one brother, Frederick Henry Price and wife Jane Thompson Price of Houston, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be James Andrew Taylor, Jr., Scott Holland Taylor, Price Ayars Taylor, David Roan Black, Mike Reed and Dan O'Neal, Jr.
The family wishes to thank the devoted caregivers who have been with Mrs. baxter and cared for her so lovingly. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or Hospice of Caring Hearts, both of Ruston.
