Auber was a horseman. People who still remember him tell stories that are the equivalent of the famous "horse whisperer". He would take problem horses and within hours,have them following him around the corral

GARDEN CITY – J. Aubeer Brown, 74, formerly of Garden City, died Thursday at the VA Hospital, Denver, after a one-month illness. Born June 15, 1893, at Greeneville, Tenn., he married Mabel Mathes March 3, 1917, at Smith Center. She died in 1961. He married Amy Waterburg February 1966, in Denver. He moved to Denver from Garden City two years ago.

Member: Methodist Church; American Legion; verteran of World War I.

Survivors: The widow; daughter Kathleen Schneiber, Liberal; stepdaughters, Mrs. Louis Brennan, Kansas City, Mo; Mrs. Gayle Bond, Laural, Miss; step-son Lee Waterburg, US Army Germany; brothers, Tom, Denver, Henry, Sulphur Springs, Ark; sister, Mrs. Oscar Nelson, Lebanon; two grandchildren; 11 step=grand-children.
