Obituary from Butte's Montana Standard newspaper 6/14/2005:

Joe G. Richards died suddenly Sunday morning at his home in Butte.
He was born in Butte April 30, 1957, to Joe and Lee Ann (Rozan) Richards. He attended local schools, graduating from Butte Central in 1975. A hard worker, Joe drove nearly 12 years for Yellow Freight and 17 years at Butte Produce before that.

He loved life and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, golf, bowling and four-wheeling. He was always active and never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was an avid Green Bay Packer and Boston Red Sox fan, but more importantly he was a great father, husband and son. He was a third degree Knights of Columbus.

Joe married Susan Burke in St. Ann's Church on May 12, 1979.

Survivors include his wife, Susan; daughters, Airika and Jennifer Richards; son, Joey Richards; parents, Gil and Lee Ann Richards; and mother-in-law, Ginny Burke, all of Butte; sister, Kathy Wyllie, her husband Bob of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and their children, Ryan Christopher and Shaun; sister, Barbara Richards of Vancouver, Wash., and her daughters, Sarah and Stefanie; brother, Tim Richards of Sugar Land, Texas, and his children, Josh and Meghan; sister-in-law, Linda Waltee, her husband Dean and their sons, Dean and Zach of Butte; sister-in-law, Lori Eisele and her husband Darrin and their children Devin, Easton and Breanne of Denver; brother-in-law, Jim Burke and his wife Kara of Denver; aunt and uncle, Arlene and Bob Mihelish of Butte; great-aunt, Betty Patrick of Butte; numerous cousins and countless friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Jim Burke, and grandparents, Frank and Eva Rozan.

There will be no wake or visitation at the funeral home; however, his family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Ann's Catholic Church followed by celebration of Liturgy of the Resurrection at noon. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Memorials: Butte Catholic Education Fund or charity of the donor's choice.

"Even though you are not with us physically, you are forever locked in our hearts and minds. You were a loving uncle and brother-in-law but most of all a father. For 17 years it was you and me, together, and though we won't see each other, for the time you being in my heart, hopes, and especially my dreams we will always be together. You will be greatly missed and never forgotten. I love you, Joe."
