She emigrated from Baden, Germany around 1870 and became a naturalized US citizen about that time.
As one of her many children (9?) Leana passed away at an early age, she took care of at least one granddaughter and also four great-grandchildren before they had to be placed in the Angel Guardian orphanage when she passed away.
Maria Elizabeth Popp lived in an apartment at 167 Bristol Street in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn when she passed away in 1925. (I believe this home was where the current Brownsville USPS Post Office is now located).
We are searching for an image and any further biographical information of Maria- kindly send note if located.
