William Hines, Former Atalissa Resident, Dead

Atalissa – Friends here have learned of the death at University hospital, Iowa City, Saturday, of William Hines, former Atalissa resident. Mr. Hines, who was janitor at the Atalissa school from 1926 to 1939, had made his home on a farm near Nichols since leaving here. The body was taken to the McCormick Funeral home at Tipton for funeral services to be conducted at 2 p.m. today by the Rev. Gordon Smith, pastor of the Atalissa Christian church.

Tipton – Funeral services for William Hines of Lone Tree, former resident of this community, were held at 2 o’clock this afternoon at the McCormick Funeral home in Tipton with the Rev. Gordon Smith of Clarence officiating. Burial will be in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Mr. Hines died at his home in Lone Tree on Saturday.

Hines Services Held At Tipton

Atalissa – Funeral services for William Hines, former Atalissa resident, who died Saturday at University hospital, Iowa City, were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the McCormick Funeral home at Tipton. The Rev. Gordon Smith officiated. Music at the services was by Mrs. Earl Esther and D. J. Myers. Burial was at Tipton Masonic cemetery.
Mr. Hines was born Nov. 1, 1884, near Mechanicsville, being a son of Myron and Ruth Farley Hines. He moved with his parents to a farm near Tipton where he lived until his marriage to Blanche Carlisle March 4, 1925, when their home was established at Atalissa. They were residents of Atalissa until 1939, when they moved to a farm near Nichols. Mr. Hines is survived by his widow, his mother at Tipton, and the following brothers and sisters: Clarence of Nichols, Charles of Wilton, Parson and Howard of Tipton, Mrs. Myrtle Raley of Kreuger of Jasper, Ind., Mrs. Margaret Wagaman of Moscow, and Miss Vera Hines of Buchanan. He was preceded in death by his father.
