ROCKFORD - Clayton C. Andrews, 82, of Rockford, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, in his residence. Born April 19, 1918, in Durand, son of Clayton Gould and Helen (Hutchins) Andrews. Lived 54 years in Rockford, coming here from Durand. Graduate of Durand High School. Married Jeanette Barningham in Rockford on Dec. 16, 1943 she died Oct. 30, 1993. He then married Martha Taxon Mott in Rockford on Aug. 25, 1994. He was a Realtor and developer, instrumental in the development of subdivisions and commercial properties, such as shopping centers, in Winnebago County. He also developed hotels that are multinational. World War II veteran, serving in the Army in Alaska earned Bronze Medal during Battle of Attu. Member of Rockford Country Club, Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Country Club, University Club, Rockford Area Association of Realtors, Board of Directors of United Bank of Illinois, Board of Trustees of Highview Retirement Home and Winnebago County Zoning Board of Appeals from 1953 to 1976. Realtor of the Year in 1990 and Atwood Award winner in 1988.

Survivors include wife, Martha of Loves Park sister, Marilyn Amundsen of Rockford nieces Susan (Gerald) Pearson of Rockford, Connie (Howard) Snellen of Campbellsburg, Ky., and Becky (Richard) Macklin of Cape Canaveral, Fla. two grandnieces one grandnephew stepdaughter, Catherine Mott Owen stepgranddaughter, Emily Clara Owen his first wife's family and many loving friends.

Memorial service at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, in the Rockford Country Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Crusader Clinic or Northern Illinois Hospice. Burpee-Wood Funeral Home, 420 N. Main St., assisted the family.
