Ocala – John L. "Buddy" Baxley, 65, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013. Buddy was a Farm Bureau Insurance agent for many years in Ocala and worked for the Marion County Sheriff's office for 15 years. He was a major Gator Football fan and loved to hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Mary Baxley.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Baxley; two sons, Lance and Chad Baxley; granddaughter, Blaine Baxley; two step-daughters, Jessica and Jami Stratton; brothers, Billy and Gary Baxley; sister, Lynn Ohlinger and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 8th, 2013 in the chapel of the funeral home with Rep. Dennis Baxley officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 3:00 PM at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, Florida.
