Asa Crippen Bement Obituary
Asa C. Bement, age 94, died October 4, 1996 at the Episcopal Home in Rochester, NY. Asa was a 50-year member of the Masons, Chemung Valley-Waverly Lodge #350 and a member of the Knights Templar, Elmira, NY, Shriners Kalurah Temple, Omers Commandery #19, Elmira, NY. He was an avid musician. He played piano and organ and was a member of the Kalurah Shrine Band of Binghamton, NY. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and very active in the Church of the Good Shepherd, Binghamton, NY. He was very proud of his music and church work. He was retired from Gierston Tool Co. of Elmira, NY. Asa is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James H. and Ann Bement of Rochester, NY; Wayne and Donna Bement of Binghamton, NY; one sister, Dorothy Keener of Rochester, NY; 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie, of 64 ½ years; and one sister, Helen Crippen of Orlando, FL. Friends may call at Roberts Funeral Home, Inc., 279 Main St., Wellsburg, NY on Sunday, October 6th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral and Committal Services will be held Monday, October 7th at 1 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, Main St., Wellsburg, NY with Rev. Richard Bellows officiating. Interment will be in Ashland Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial be made to the American Cancer Society in Marjorie Bement's memory.
