(Note: Rachael (Morse) Marshall's first name is almost always spelled ‘Rachel' by genealogists, however on her gravestone it is clearly spelled ‘Rachael' so that is the spelling I have used.)

Rachael Morse was born on 21 Aug 1739 at Walpole, Norfolk Co., Mass., the daughter of Josiah and Mary (Robbins) Morse. She was a sixth generation descendant of Samuel Morse, who came to Massachusetts in 1625 on the ship ‘Increase'.

Rachael married Anthony James Marshall, the son of William and Elizabeth (Nason) Marshall, on 3 December 1761 in Walpole, Norfolk Co., Mass. They had 8 children: Joseph (b. 1763), Abigail (b. 1765), Richard (b. 1768), Isaac (b. 1770), Rachel (b. 1771), Mary Polly (b. 1773), William (b. 1776) and Solomon (b. 1779).

Rachel and her husband moved to Nova Scotia in the early 1760s, part of the wave of settlers known as the New England Planters. There, they lived in the following places, based on land and children's birth records:

Granville Township, Annapolis County, early 1760s – 1785
Wilmot Township, Annapolis County, 1785 – 1790
Digby Township, (in what is now) Digby County, 1790 – death

The rural agricultural community where they last settled was subsequently named Marshalltown, after her husband Anthony.

Rachael died on 12 May 1825, probably at Marshalltown, Digby Co., N.S.
