HOLCOMB, Patricia 'Pat' Ann
Passed away late Saturday evening, May 25, 2013 in Sacramento, California surrounded by the love of her family. Pat was born January 21, 1928 in Stockton, California to Frank and Vivian Powers. They moved to Sacramento in 1929. Pat graduated from Sacramento High School in 1946. She attended junior college and pursued a long career at Pacific Bell Telephone Company as a supervisor, manager and training course developer. She retired in 1982. She kept in touch with many of her co-workers and good friends over the years. She was especially fond of the 'Lunch Bunch' group and looked forward to their monthly luncheons. She was married to Robert Simi, Sr. and they had a son, Robert Simi, Jr. in 1954. She later married Ben W. Holcomb in Santa Cruz, California in 1964. They shared 43 loving years together until Ben's death in 2006. After retiring from Pac Bell, Pat ran the family business office for Holcomb Pool Company and Shangri-la Spas. In 1992 Pat became a volunteer for Mercy General Hospital Guild in various service areas. She became a member of the executive board in 1994. She was chairperson of many services with a total of 7,146 volunteer hours. She was a big fan of golf and loved to watch Tiger Woods. She and Ben were diehard 49ers fans and season ticket holders for many years. Pat loved to travel. She enjoyed cruises, trips to Europe, South America and Alaska and vacations at the coast and Lake Tahoe. She loved to gamble. Pat was a positive influence to those around her. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ellen Threadgill. She is survived by her son, Robert Simi, Jr.; her stepchildren, Christine McCall, Vicki Holcomb and Ben G. Holcomb; her step-grandchildren, Jeff Simonsen, Cheryl (Russ) Douglas and Benjamin W. Holcomb II; and step-great grandchildren, Heather and Brian Douglas; and her nephew, Dean Threadgill and his family, Tracy, Jessica and Austin. We wish to express our gratitude to Gracie Montes, long time friend, companion and caregiver to Pat, her husband, Ben and Pat's mother. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 6 from 4-8:OOPM and a funeral service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 11:00AM at George L. Klumpp Chapel of Flowers, 2691 Riverside Blvd., Sacramento, CA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to one of Pat's favorite charities; Loaves and Fishes, S.P.C.A, Sacramento Children's Home or the Mercy Guild.
