From a family history by Ami Maxon:

The son of Adalbert Clarendon Maxon, grandson of George Washington Maxon and great grandson of Potter Maxon, Robert graduated from Berlin High School. He attended Union College and graduated rom Columbia University Medical School. According to his niece, he was "over six feet tall, very handsome and athletic... a track star at Union."

He married Janet Walsh McKenzie in Albany, NY in 1938, and they became parents of a son, Robert (Robin) Alexander Maxon and a daughter, Laurie.

At the outbreak of World war II, he enlisted in the US Navy, became a Flight Surgeon and was given the rank Lieutenant. He died shortly before being posted overseas. and was buried in his home town. Schenectady has a ball park named in his honor. His Tudor style home/office on Nott St. remains in that town.
