Services For J. W. Sinton In Gloucester
Gloucester, Aug. 25 - and James Winston Sinton Jr., 63, retired vice president of the Atlantic Life Insurance Company, Richmond, died Monday afternoon at his home in Zanoni.
Mr. Sinton held the positions of vice president an actuary of the insurance firm upon his retirement in 1946 when he came here to live. He had been with the company for more than 30 years and was secretary prior to his promotion to vice president.
A native of Richmond, he was a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College having received the B. A. degree in 1909 and the M. A. degree in 1910. He taught school for two years prior to becoming associated with the insurance firm.
An officer in the army during World War I, Mr. Sinton was a member of Chi Phi Fraternity. He was a former member of the Virginia Boat Club and the Commonwealth Club of Virginia.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elsie Hardwicke Sinton; a daughter, Miss Ellen Westwood Sinton of Zanoni, and a sister, Mrs. William W. Martin of Richmond.
The cortege will leave the Foster-Bridges Funeral Home at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday for Ware Episcopal Church Cemetery where a graveside service will be held at 10: 30 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Reginald W. Eastman, rector.
Active pallbearers will be R. E. Starr, Ellis Corr, Joseph J. Oulahan, George S. Coyle, Herbert L. Lewis and Raymond Brown.
