Ballerina. She was the first American ballerina to achieve international fame. One of the leading names in 19th century Italian ballet, she trained in Philadelphia with Paul Hazard in 1836 and made her debut there in 1837 appearing in Le Dieu et la Bayadere. Sadly her career in America was short. She travelled to Paris and guested with the Paris Opera in 1839 in La Tarentule. She was never on stage in America again. She married dancer Charles Mablille and went with him to Libson but divorced him and remained in Venice and danced with the Karntnertor Theate from 1845 to 1947. She went to La Scala and trained there with Blasis and performed many ballerina roles. Had her own company in 1850 to 1858 with whom she toured round Italy. Retired to Lake Como in 1873
