Glenda Warner, beloved mother, grandmother and friend left this earthly existence and passed into the loving arms of our Lord on June 1, 2013.

She was born in Lillington, NC to William B. Parker and Rhoda Hall Parker on April 14, 1935; their youngest child.

She spent her childhood and young adulthood years around the Roseboro, Autryville, and Fayetteville areas.

Glenda was preceded in death by her youngest daughter Sandra Lynn and, later, her husband Russell E. Warner.

Glenda moved to Medina, OH in the 1960s and worked at Southern Door until it closed 25 years later.

She had many friends and family members in Medina. Everyone always felt free to spontaneously drop in and sit and chat—no calling ahead necessary—everyone was welcome. The door was always open. Glenda enjoyed doing crafts for many years and successfully sold them at craft shows. She always liked learning new things, including painting.

Our mom frequently "adopted" an older neighbor to assist and befriend in every neighborhood in which we ever lived. She especially loved children and elderly people. After retirement, she worked hard and proudly accomplished achieving her GED in 1990, and she became an avid reader. Additionally, after retirement, Glenda also volunteered for the Red Cross for ten years, on weekends, notifying and acting as a liaison between soldiers and their families in cases of events and/or emergencies. Glenda liked to putter around the yard gardening and she adored being outdoors in the sunshine. She loved flowers, shrubs and her flowering trees, watching them through the blinds from her bedroom as the sun rose each morning.

Glenda always festively decorated her home for every single holiday, delighting all her grandchildren. While married, she and Russ enjoyed camping in their RV at the lake for many years and regularly invited family members to join them for cook-outs and holidays. Frequent trips to Canada and Atlantic City casinos were also fun for them in their retirement years.

Glenda moved to Grove City, a suburb of Columbus in 2004 after the death of her husband, Russell, the previous year. There, she was near her son and daughter-in-law and she quickly made many new friends in Holt Park. Friends and relatives from Medina and NC traveled and continued to visit her in her new home. While living in Holt Park, Glenda participated in many clubhouse meetings and enjoyed serving on the Hospitality Committee. She delighted in helping plan the Veteran's Day Dinner, Easter festivities and welcoming new neighbors to the Holt Park community. Glenda also enjoyed making the photo collages of each special event during the year to display in the clubhouse. She made many dear friends through her involvement in all these activities. Those same friends supported her during her later health struggles.

Glenda spent winters after the death of her husband, Russell, in Chapel Hill, NC with her daughter since 2003. During this time, she became an avid "Tar Heel" basketball fan, quoting player names and statistics, attending home games, and dutifully booing the refs. She learned how to fill out the NCAA tournament brackets and loved the excitement of it all. Officially a "snowbird" then, she attended church regularly at New Hope Presbyterian Church in Chapel Hill where she made friends that always missed her when she returned to Ohio each spring. These friends regularly wrote and sent cards when she was away. She dearly loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and later, her great-grandchildren.

Glenda is survived by her daughter, Barbara; her son, Bob, and his wife, Dianna; grandchildren Stephanie, Crystal and Tyler; great-grandchildren Ella, Jacob and Danny; and numerous relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed by all of us.

Services will be in both Grove City and Medina, OH. A visitation will be held in Grove City, OH from 4:00 to 6:00pm, Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH.

A visitation at Waite and Son, 765 N. Court Street, Medina, OH will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 and a memorial service will be held at 12:30pm, Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Waite and Son Funeral Home, Medina, OH.

Burial will be at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH. Condolences and fond memories may also be shared at www.NewcomerColumbus.com.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Holt Park Hospitality Committee or Heartland Hospice.
