Mary H. (Hammond) Spicer, of Lorain, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013.

She was born April 21, 1944, in Sandusky, to William and Anna (Landoll) Hammond. She was raised in Huron and was a graduate of Huron High School.

She was active for many years with the Lorain Police Auxiliary. She then went on to work as security guard with Spitzer Marine before retiring.

In 1996 she married Thomas Spicer and together they began a new chapter in their life as foster parents to more than 10 boys.

She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Thomas Spicer; daughters, Shawn Dombrowski Jeffrey and Patty Dombrowski Carter; a stepson; a step-daughter; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; two sisters; a brother; and several nieces and nephews.

The Spicer family will receive friends from 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, until funeral services at noon at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Interment will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
