GALVESTON — Loree Jones, 69, passed away Friday, June 14, 1996, at her residence in Galveston.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 17, 1996, at Avenue T 1/2 Church of Christ, Galveston, with Evang. Roy Osband, M.Div., officiating.
Burial will take place at Mainland Memorial Cemetery, Hitchcock.
Visitation will be at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home on Sunday, June 16,1996, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by a wake to be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Ms. Jones was born March 12, 1927, to the late Sam and Eva Mae Tanner in San Augustine County, Texas.
She attended school in Nacogdoches graduating from high school there. She married Willie Anders and to that union a son, Willie was born. Later she married Samuel Jones and to that union six children were born. She dedicated her life to her family and church. She was a member of Avenue T 1/2 Church of Christ in Galveston.
Predeceased by her parents, daughter, Rose Alexander, sisters, Brooxie Brown, Clara Nickerson and Hazel Price and brothers, R.C. Tanner and Sam Tanner Jr.
Loree leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Willie Anders Jr., Welford Tanner and Samuel Jones Jr., all of Galveston; daughters, Doris Laundy of West Texas City and Joy Pines and Dimple Greene both of Galveston; sisters, Eva Mae Lee of Houston, Kitty Mae Kegler of Nacogdoches and Era Tanner and Bobbie Jean James both of California.
Pallbearers will be Willie Anders Jr., Welford E. Tanner, John L. Nickerson, Samuel Jones Jr. and James L. Nickerson. Honorary Pallbearers will be other members of the family.
