Laurits Johansen, 87, Mohall, died Thursday, September 5, 1991 in the Good Samaritan Home in Mohall.
His funeral was Saturday in St. Jerome's Catholic Church with burial in the Community Cemetery both Mohall.
Officiating was Rev. Jim Braaten. Organist was Kay Southam. Casketbearers were Paul Boyle, Oakley Elven, Donald Southam, Lawrence Solar, Leo McCrory and Roy Aasen.
He was born June 2, 1904 in Aarhus, Denmarck to Soren and Karen Johansen. He was raised there, worked four years as a buttermaker and served one year in the Danish military. In 1928 he came to the United States and worked as a buttermaker in creameries in Valley City, Mandan and Jamestown. He moved to Stanley in 1930 where he was employed by the Gray Creamery and in 1935 moved to Mohall where he he owned and operated the Mohall Creamery. In 1949 he sold the business to Harry Martin and Pat Sullivan. He then lived and farmed in Brandon Township, rural Mohall. He married Laura Kelner, Janurary 18, 1937 in Stanley.
He was a member of St. Jerome's Catholic Church.
Survivors: wife, Mohall; son, Larry, rural Mohall: daughters, Karen MacKinnon, Sacramento, Ca. and Julie Johansen, San Diego, Ca.; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews in Denmark.
He was preceded in death by parents, one brother, four sisters.
