Betty Mae Walker (nee: Witte), 88 years of age, and a resident of Sandusky , Ohio, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Parkvue Health Care Center following a lengthy illness. Betty was born November 18, 1924, in Amherst, Ohio where she was raised. She was a graduate from Central Amherst High School in 1942. Betty made her home in Amherst and Vermilion most of her life. Sandusky had been her home for the last year. Betty was employed by Bendix Westinghouse in the accounting department where she worked for thirty years. She was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst. Survivors include her nephews; Terry Walker of Sheffield Lake, Darrel Kurth and his wife Sharon of Berlin Heights, Ohio, Duane Kurth and his wife Janis, Mark Muska and Scott Muska, all of Amherst; niece Marcia Malz of Connecticut. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-five years, Robert "Bob" Walker on December 20, 2012; by parents Albert C. and Clara M. Witte (nee: Brucker) and sister Marian A. Makruski. Friends may call Sunday, June 2, 2013, from 2-5 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 3, 2013, 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Mark Pemberton, Pastor of St. Peter United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow at Crownhill Cemetery, Amherst, Ohio.
