NEAR, MRS. LILLIAN A., ROOSEVELT PARK:
Mrs. Lillian Near, age 87, died Monday, July 24, 2000. She was born in Walkerville, Mi. on July 29, 1912 to Fred [Holladay] and Louise (Kolbe) Holladay and married Ross near in Peru, Ind. on November 3, 1938. Mrs. Near had worked at Shaw Walker for 10 years prior to retiring. She was a member of the Giles Road Baptist Church and the Northside Senior Centre.
Survived by one son Bernard (Sharon) Near of Muskegon, one daughter Carla (Thomas) Redenius of Roosevelt Park, sister Laurena Shaffer of Port Huron, Mi., a sister-in-law Evelyn Holladay of Walkerville, Mi., 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross, in 1966, a daughter Karen Fixel in 1994 and a grandson David Fixel in 1994, her brother Francis Holladay in 1999 and by a sister-in-law Ruby Near in 1999.
Service Friday, July 28, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. at Giles Road Baptist Church with Rev. Donald LeMaire officiating. Interment in Shelby Mennonite Cemetery in Shelby, Mi. Visitation Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Clock Funeral Home. Memorial donations to Giles Road Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
