Claude Anderson Pierce Jr., 72, of Florence, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, with his family by his side at ECM Hospital.He was a native of Rosedale, Miss., and lived in Florence for the past 30 years.He was a member of Faith Tabernacle Church and the Teamsters Local No. 402.Mr. Pierce was a retired truck driver for Reynolds who loved to fish. His dying wish was that all his family could realize the great love he held for each of them. His children remember him as a moral man who unselfishly worked very hard so they could have a good life.Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Greenview Memorial Chapel, with burial to follow in Greenview Memorial Park. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Henry Melton and the Rev. Tommy James. Military honors will be accorded at graveside.He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Mattie Lou Pierce; and one son, Andy Pierce.He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Pierce; sons, Kent Pierce, of Memphis, Tenn., Donald, Johnie, Ronald and Darren Tussey, all of Florence; daughter, Deby McClain, of Florence; brothers, Floyd Pierce, of Houston, Texas, Dub Pierce, of Crossville, Tenn., and Jimmy Pierce, of Waynesville, N.C.; sisters, Mary Laman, of Southhaven, Miss., Nancy Megel, of Marco Island, Fla., Ruby Franks, of Batesville, Miss., and Barbara Cooperstein, of Germantown, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Virginia Crocker and Zachary Pierce, of Memphis, Josh and Brooke McClain, of Florence, Rantz and C.J. Tussey, of Tuscumbia; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Alexis, of Memphis.Pallbearers will be nephews.Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. Oliver Matthews.The family would like to give special thanks to the C.E.U. nurses, Janet, Wanda, Keli, Cindi and LeAnn at ECM Hospital.Greenview Funeral Home, of Florence, is directing. .
